Services/Facilities Offered

OPD :- We have daily OPD in OPD complex, room number 63 from 9 A.M. to 1.30 P.M. All children under 12 years of age with surgical problems are examined and taken care of. Minor surgical procedures are also done in OPD. Last year 15501 patients were examined in OPD.

WARD :- We have a sanctioned bed strength of 40. Our ward has a special section for postoperative patients in which 6 beds are there and sick and postoperative patients are monitored there. An ICU with 8 open air systems with all the modern gadgetries attached to them including phototherapy units is also in place, where neonates are taken care of. Our team works in great comraderie with pediatric medicine and when surgical babies require ventilatory support, they are shifted to pediatric intensive care unit or new born nursery.

OT :- All major pediatric surgical undertakings are performed in OT-3, four days a week.Last year 455 elective major operations were carried out.

All calendar days in a year, round the clock emergency services are provided in which children ranging from the age of few hours up to 12 years are taken care of. Last year 426 emergency surgical procedure were performed.

NEUROSURGERY

Open neural tube defects and hydrocephalus are routinely operated with good results.

THORACIC SURGERY

Major lung resections like lobectomies and pneumonectomies are routinely performed. Decortication for chronic empyema is performed with good results. Esophageal replacement surgery is also being done in our department.

UROLOGY

All reconstructive urological surgery is routinely performed. Bladder augmentations, ureteric reimplants, pyeloplasties, pyelolithotomies, nephrectomies are successfully performed with good results. Long segment urethral strictures are substituted with gut segments and all other types of urethroplasties are performed for urethral strictures. Hypospadias surgery has got exceptionally good success rates in our department. Endourology whether diagnostic or therapeutic is routinely performed. Procedures like check cystoscopies, valve fulgurations, optical urethrotomies are done with good results.

GI SURGERY

EHBA, choledochal cyst, hepatic tumors, hepatic cysts, pancreatitis. Portal hypertension, duplication cysts. Abdominal tuberculosis, GI Tumors are routinely dealt with successfully.

NEONATAL SURGERY

Whole range from esophageal atresias, congenital diaphragmatic hernias, neonatal tumors, anorectal malformations, gut atresias, neonatal obstructions, perforations are all routinely performed.

EMERGENCY SURGERY

All types of emergency surgeries like trauma, peritonitis, obstructions are commonly performed with good results.

Rigid bronchoscopy and esophagoscopy is also performed for FB extractions and other diagnostic purposes.

M.Ch TRAINING PROGRAMME

Ours is one of the fifteen premiere institutions recognized by MCI where Mch in pediatric surgery is being coffered. Every year one Mch resident is selected through an All India Entrance Examination conducted by Delhi University. Mch is a rigorous training for 3 years in which every finer aspect of pediatric surgery is taught to the residents by highly skilled consultants.
